GroovyKids™ Yoga Teacher Training is a 20-hour course that equips the student with everything they need to teach Kids Yoga! So much more than just yoga, this training looks at the different approaches to kids yoga, ways to engage the student, technical understanding of poses and how they can be sequenced together to create infinite classes for kids of all ages. We play games designed to reveal to you your intuitive vision of the world. It’s not always what you think! Together we’ll discuss ways to harness kids energy and enthusiasm. We look at ways to share yoga philosophically with kids and of course, how to learn new skills such as meditation that can help so much with stress as kids grow up. The training is very practical, interactive and fun. No experience is necessary, just a love of kids and/or a love of yoga!
Then we move onto who yoga is for, what the benefits are. Teaching kids yoga means you have to be on your toes, so we practice games and exercises that bring us fully present. We look at sequencing ideas and how we actually learn things, how we memorize them and why some things are easier than others to recall. We learn chants, songs, stories, yoga games and other things that all help make LEARNING and TEACHING a JOYFUL experience. After all the theory has been presented and explained, we go through the GroovyKids® Yoga Flow ourselves, it’s very helpful for the teachers to do the actual class as learning from the inside out is far more PRACTICAL! After looking at the various elements every successful Kids Yoga class must have, we invite kids to come and actually do a free Kids Yoga class. This is invaluable and the most fun part, because the teachers can immediately see for themselves theory in action! Once the kids have gone home, we break down the class and ask ourselves, did we accomplish what we set out to?
And the answer is always YES!!!!This training is certified as 10 hours with a contact C-RYT according to Yoga Alliance standards
We explore ways to do that and also look at how the poses can be changed for the older age groups. Again, younger bodies and minds need different stimuli for greatest benefit so we look at ways to equip the teacher so they can be confident! We include some discussion of teaching children with special needs, we look at some interesting studies and learn from their findings. Of course, we also play games! And another in depth look at sequencing and how it can be altered to suit the needs of the class.
